Call for district-level oil checking labs

The Coconut Oil Mill Owners Association has demanded the establishment of district-level quality checking labs to prevent the sale of adulterated and low-quality coconut oil. Leaders of the association said the lack of support from the government for the modernisation of traditional oil mills was indirectly encouraging illegal players in the sector. They also complained that even banned coconut oil brands were staging a comeback in the absence of proper checking.
