What Your Gynecologist Wants You To Stop Doing Immediately

While there are a lot of things that many women are too scared or embarrassed to tell their gynecologists, you would be surprised by all of the things that your doctor wishes he or she could tell you, too. Unfortunately, there just isn’t enough time in the day to go over every little detail that will not only make you a healthier person, but a happier one, too.

Worrying About Hairy Legs

Now, your doctor doesn’t want you to worry about the hair itself, but rather, he or she wants you to stop worrying about having to shave them all the time!

While it’s completely fine and acceptable to shave your legs every day, but if daily shaving causes skin irritation (such as razor burn or ingrown hairs) you should shave every few days to give your skin time to heal. Also, keep in mind that shaving will not make the hair grow back thicker and will keep your legs smooth and soft.

Scheduling Pap Smears During Your Period

Honestly, this should be common sense but you would be surprised by just how many women go to the doctor during their periods. The timing of a Pap smear is important if you’re menstruating. According to research, when you have your period, the blood and other tissue can interfere with the results of the test.

Your doctor won’t waste their time with you. You may be advised to reschedule. Only some doctors will go ahead with a Pap smear if a patient’s flow is very light.

Using A Dull Razor

As a matter of fact, health experts agree that it would be best if you tossed your dull razor out completely. In order to avoid the risk of developing folliculitis, thoroughly cleanse the area first, and then use a moisturizing gel and a fresh razor.

Using Coconut Oil

Unfortunately, it’s not perfect in the lube department. Because coconut oil is antibacterial and anti-fungal, there’s a chance that it could disrupt your vagina’s natural pH balance and cause a yeast infection. Stop using it immediately.

Not Taking Care Of Yourself

First and foremost, moms have to learn how to take care of themselves or in other words, put themselves a little higher on the priority list. Sure, it’s not always easy (especially if you have multiple children to take care of), but if you keep on postponing your gynecologist appointment for other reasons, that might be a problem. Only a healthy mom can take care of a healthy family. It might be easier said than done, but stop making excuses and start taking care of yourself.
